Small Town Saturday

Jamie Graham Duprey and Debbie Wolfe both come from a small town located on Highway 2 in north-central Montana, known as the Heart of the Hi-Line. It is one of those towns where people not only know everybody in their own class, but also everybody in all the classes above and below them (as well as many of their relatives)!

A few years ago, an all-class reunion was being planned, and there was an idea to collect original songs from school alumni. Wanting to be helpful, Jamie dictated ideas on her phone while driving to a junior high track meet. By the time she arrived at the meet, she had a rough draft of “Small Town Saturday”. Jamie connected with Debbie, who took the lyrics, penciled-in melodies, and chords and turned them into a beautiful score. The seed was planted.

Since then, Jamie and Debbie have collaborated on—and are so happy to share—the six songs found in this book (seven, if you count the SAB version of “Small Town Saturday”). They have loved creating this music and hope it offers space to reflect, lament, wonder, and enjoy whatever feelings and emotions the music evokes.
